BTS breaks the record for most weeks atop the Billboard Kpop Hot 100 for one song

Posted by glxy10581 pts Tuesday, June 25, 2019

BTS just broke another record with their "Boy with Luv" single, featuring Halsey. The song topped the Billboard Kpop Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks, the longest for any song ever. The song debuted atop the chart on the issue dated April 20 and continued its reign until June 8, 2019, where it was dethroned byLim Jae Hyun's"If There Was Practice in Love".

The record was previously held by Soyou, Junggigo and Lil Boy with their 2014 single "Some" and by Lee Seung-gi with his 2012 single "Return", which both topped the chart for six weeks.

BTS also comes second, when it comes to most weeks spent atop cumulatively. With 15 weeks, across four songs, the group is only four weeks behind IU. The singer spent a total of 19 weeks on number-one with ten number-one singles. Her most recently released single and number-one hit "Bbibbi" topped the chart for two weeks in late 2018.
