Mnet's 'Produce x 101' confirms contract length and more details

AKP STAFF

Mnet has confirmed the contract length and other details of the final 'Produce x 101' group.

At the press conference for 'Produce x 101' on April 30, Mnet business manager Kim Yong Bum confirmed the contract length of the 'Produce x 101' project group is 5 years. He stated, "They'll be promoting continuously for 2 and a half years, and the 2 and a half years after that they'll be switching promotions as a project group and promoting with their labels."

Kim Yong Bum continued, "The reason is because rather than the goal to make money, CJ is attempting a greater purpose to solve the questions that arose from the idol groups of seasons 1, 2, and 3. In IOI's case, they disbanded after not even a year, and a lot of people wanted them to get back together. Wanna One was also a global group, but there was a lot of disappointment in regards to their short promotions. The truth is that fans wanted them to come back without disbanding at the end of their tour. The five years would secure it, so the group could work globally."

'Produce x 101' premieres on May 3 at 11PM KST.

Why all this groups suddenly want to go global? The market is oversaturated already, there is only limited amount of money multi stans can spend. I still wish them success, and I'm sure they will be crazy popular in Korea and kpop community but I don't really think it's "GLOBAL".
