7 Memorable K-Pop Dance Battles

AKP STAFF

What's better than our favorite K-Pop groups dancing their hearts out on stage? Our favorite K-Pop groups dancing their hearts out on stage against each other. Nothing makes K-Pop more exciting and enthralling than when the best dancers in the industry duke it out on variety shows or special stages. The showcase of skills and abilities reminds us of the incredible talent that our favorite idols possess! Here are the 7 memorable K-Pop dance battles:

7. NCT Ten v. Taeil

Not every dance battle has to be serious! This particular Weekly Idol clip of Ten (NCT U's Main Dancer) and Taeil (NCT 127's Main Vocalist) proves that each person has a skill that they're best at. We're reminded a bit of BTS J-Hope and Jin when we watch this clip! Taeil and Jin should form an inter-group dance sub-unit for the fans!

6. IOI Chungha v. TWICE Momo

Nothing will put you to the test like a surprise and that's exactly what Chungha and Momo experienced in this episode of Hit the Stage - an off-the-cuff dance battle! The show tended to pin the two against each other as rivals and IOI's Chungha has remarked that she finds that they have nothing against each other, but they didn't hesitate to bring their best game and dish out the heat during this dance battle!

5. LOONA v. Fromis_9

Here, we have the case of two idol groups that are extremely talented at doing cover dances! Being good at cover dances is indicative of strong work ethic and unique talents that the group possesses, and this is an excellent example of the hard work and effort both fromis_9 and LOONA have put into learning choreography to improve their on-stage presence!

4. Red Velvet Havana Dance-Off

Red Velvet reminds us that not all K-Pop dance battles have to be between different groups! Sometimes the best battles are between the talent in a single individual group! Red Velvet's "Havana" dance-off is a fan-favorite dance battle and features all the group's cute charms and infectious smiles! We have to say, Joy really turned it up at the end with the subtle smirks and hip pops. Who won this competition in your eyes?

3. BTS v. Block B

This was one of the performances that reached viral status from MAMA in 2015. We have to thank BTS Park Jimin for his bravery on-stage for this particular live showcase. 2015 MAMA also served as the first time Zico and RM finally got to share the stage again since their underground rap days. Up until this point, many people had argued that Block B and BTS shared a similar space in K-Pop, however this performance proved that both groups have separate talents that deserve their own individual spaces in the industry.

2. iKON v. GOT7

Yes, this dance battle may have been pre-debut for GOT7 and iKON, but the dancing is at a whole other level! It seems like GOT7 is literally flying in this performance and the way iKON performed was more reminiscent of an old-school dance crew. You can tell just how badly both groups wanted to succeed, and now looking back, we can finally say it was all worth it!

1. Girls' Generation v. Kara v. SHINee v. Super Junior v. After School v. 2AM

Nothing says K-Pop dance battle like all the greats in an old-school cringe-worthy dance battle! This is a hilariously feel-good moment for K-Pop and a great window into an era full of industry legends. We have to agree with one of the comments on this video- Jo Kwon is the original twerking machine.

So, I guess everyone has forgotten about the OLD dance battles, like the ones between Infinite, ZE:A and Teen Top...
