Looks good.

TWICE's concept looks like cute and girly.

ITZY looks more like edgy and sexy.

I thought the name would mean that in Korean and I was right! Makes me like it so much more! Sounds cool in English but it deep in Korean and that's a good name.

I really really hope they come with a concept that this industry hasn’t seen that much, as in something different than TWICE cause the cute concepts are usually cringy to me

I was not expecting that hangeul spelling from the name ITZY. "있" means either "to have" or "to exist" in Korean but, even though it's pronounced as "it" in this situation, the correct romanization of "있" is always "iss" so normally when English words are written in Hangeul they use "ㅌ" which is romanized as "t" for any word with a "t" in it (like Twice for example). The name makes a lot more sense now that I see it's Korean meaning (though it still sounds really weird in English). It's cool that this group has a name that means something in Korean, I think it's the first JYP group to have that.

As of now I'm still not feeling the name but I also hated the names Blackpink and Twice at first (now I like them a lot and think the names fit those two groups perfectly) and, though I'm still not exactly loving I*Zone, it's growing on me so maybe ITZY will too.

Not all romanizations follow the Hangeul spelling. The so-called Revised Romanization favored by the South Korean government and sites like Wikipedia would spell 있지 as "itji".

Living in Korea I've never seen "있" romanized as "it". I do know it sounds that way when followed by a consonant sound but i've never seen it translated that way. I'm also taking a Korean class here and that's the romanization I was taught. The romanization is also correct according to the "National institute of Korean language" website. I do know that sometimes, stylistically, things are romanized a different way. For example, the name "jisoo" should technically be romanized as "jisu" and the name "chaeyoung" should be romanized as "chaeyeong" but I've never seen them romanized that way.

You know the English pronunciation of 있지 is "it-chi". It's not a "zee." So their names are literally pronounced Itchy.

I feel like they are going to be the Twice JYP intended to initially make (based on Like OOh AHH) so a cute but fierce girl crush, and eventually grow into a Miss A, hopefully with more unity and fairness

I really wish Somi was in this group, the concept suits her and she'd be better off in a group than going solo. Plus it would give them some diversity.

Shouldn't it be "evrything you want is in us"?

or am i wrong?

Share

eottoke 24 days ago 1

they put it into two phrases: “Everything you want” and “it’z in us”. so it is still correct. besides it doesn’t indicate that it is a whole sentence since they were stacked in a row and a sentence ends with a period(.)

Lol XD Jisu's stage name is Lia not Lisa and she's literally the only one who chose a stage name. All the others stuck with their legal name lol. Yeji is Yeji. Chaeryoung and Chaeyeon (I assume you're referring to Iz*One's Chaeyeon) are fraternal twins!! Also Yoona or any variation of it just seems to be popular all around. Lol. Is your name XvshajB or something? Is that why you're so salty that they share similar names/stage names with people?
