'33rd Golden Disc Awards' excludes online voting in select categories for fairness

Online voting is excluded from several categories of the upcoming '33rd Golden Disc Awards.'

On December 5, the '33rd Golden Disc Awards' announced their award show will take place on January 5-6, 2019. Once again, the award ceremony plans to put fairness as its top priority.

In order to prevent winners solely based on popularity, online voting will be excluded from the 'Bonsang,' 'Daesang,' and 'Best New Artist' categories. Similar to last year, the winner will be chosen based on the number of album sales, digital download, and evaluation by experts. The experts include 30 music program producers, music critics, and K-pop reporters.

Music releases from December 1, 2017 to November 30, 2018 are considered for nomination.

The '33rd Golden Disc Awards' is scheduled to broadcast live on JTBCJTBC2, and JTBC4

Because there are many mega hits like Jang Deok Chul's Good Old Days or Shaun's Way Back Home but non-idols like them can't win any awards if there is online voting included. I'm glad they chose to exclude online voting in the categories that actually matter. Korean music is much more than just KPop and every other show is basically idolfest anyways.
