On Sunday night after the ice dance short program competition at the '2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics', aired on American broadcasting network NBC, Eric Nam had a chance to sit down with American figure skaters/figure skating commentators Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski.
In his one-on-two interview with Johnny and Tara, Eric Nam was able to give American audiences a more in-depth look at K-Pop, explaining that there's more to the genre than just multi-numbered groups.
Eric first explained that he chose to join the K-Pop industry rather than begin a singing career in the U.S, because "K-Pop was the genre that gave me the opportunity. I don't think that American or Western audiences were ready for an Asian face in music. I think now they are, I think people are opening up their eyes and ears and being a lot more accepting. But 7, 8, 10 years ago, we didn't have those opportunities."
He then gave Johnny and Tara a rundown of how he writes his music in English first, then switches over to the Korean language, giving viewers a sneak preview of his brand new single! SPICA's Boa also made a surprise appearance, seen working with Eric for his new song.
You can watch the full interview clip on the NBC Olympics's official website, the link to which Eric recently shared on his Twitter, below.
