Some SHINee fans have threatened to boycott SM Entertainment's '2018 SM Artist Season Greetings' release due to Onew's involvement in the project.
On November 28, the hashtag "#shinee_season_boycott"began spreading on Twitter. The '2018 Artist Season Greetings' includes amonthly planner, photocards, and posters of SME artists, and the recent video teaser for SHINee featured all the members, including Onew. However, it seems some fans are not yet ready to forget Onew's sexual harassment controversythat arose this past summer.

Self-labeled SHINee fans complained, "I'll boycott every one of SHINee's promotions that include Onew", "You're deceiving consumers by not letting them know exactly what's in the release", "The result is disappointing fans who've been waiting", and more.
