On November 28 in Gangnam, Taeyeon rear-ended a taxi in front of her, leading to a 3-car crash. Among the many rumors regarding the accident, one stated that her pet dog Gingerwas also in her car at the time of the crash. It was claimed that Ginger was improperly seated in the passenger seat, with no seatbelts or cages.

In response to the rumors about Ginger, the police stated to Joongang Ilbo, "It's not yet confirmed if her pet dog was sitting in the passenger seat at the time." Another insider also commented, "I've not heard anything about her pet's involvement in the accident."
Meanwhile, SM Entertainment admitted that the accident was Taeyeon's fault and assured all passengers have been transferred to the hospital for treatment.
