On November 22, reports claimed that Mnet's 'Produce 101' season 3 will not be a survival to create an idol group, but rather a new 11-member group featuring actors/actresses and models.
Mnet's side gave a vague response to the reports, denying that anything was set in stone. The broadcasting station said, "We are currently looking over and researching various new challenges for 'Produce 101' season 3. The situation is constantly changing, but we plan on confirming a specific format soon. We are currently in the final stages of decision making."
It seems the broadcasting station is not only still deciding on whether the third season will consist of males or females, but also whether the show will continue with the premise of creating an idol group at all.
