5 K-Pop Record Label Collabs That Need To Happen Now!

AKP STAFF
misc.
1. LOEN Entertainment x Cube Entertainment
LOEN Ent. is home to recording artists such as Fiestar, IU, Zia, Melody Day and more while Cube Ent. serves as a haven to artists like Peniel, HyunA, BTOB, CLC, Jung Il-hoon, and more! Due to each label's overwhelming number of soloists, we believe that a collaboration between the two labels would be most fruitful in a duet or ensemble performance. Vocal performances are generally strong from those who are signed to Cube and LOEN. Moreover, Cube Ent. has a running history of many well-known artists being signed to the label for many years of their career. These artists include Rain, 4minute, APINK, and BEAST to name a few!
2. BigHit Entertainment x SM Entertainment
What do you get when you cross the #1 K-Pop entertainment company in Korea based on sales (and some would argue talent) with the company that signed and created the #1 K-Pop group globally right now? A masterpiece. If BigHit and SM were to join forces, it's almost guaranteed there would be a perfectly produced song and elegantly presented music video with carefully choreographed synchronization. SM and BigHit trainees and artists work incredibly hard, and it shows in their music videos and performances. Take BTS, EXO, Homme, Red Velvet, NCT as just some of the examples of hard-working artistry these labels have to offer! A collaboration between BigHit and SM would be total chart-topping domination (Imagine an EXO-BTS collab).
3. Woollim Entertainment x Plan A Entertainment
After merging with a subsidiary of SM Entertainment, Woollim Entertainment emerged with its own array of colorful artists. With artists like Infinite, Lovelyz, Golden Child, Kim Sung-kyu, Nam Woo-hyun and even formerly Epik High, adorning this list, Woollim serves as the perfect companion to Plan A Entertainment, who serves as a subsidiary of Cube Entertainment. Because both record labels are subsidiary companies with the drive to make music a bit different from their parent company, a collaboration between the two would yield what we think would be amazing results! Perhaps an Infinite and APINK collaboration?
4. YG Entertainment x Pledis Entertainment
Pledis Entertainment is home to newer artists like PRISTIN, NU'EST, and Seventeen while YG is home to big name legends like Big Bang. On top of that YG also has a multitude of independent artists under HIGHGRND, THE BLACK LABEL, and PSYG. Not to mention, YG Entertainment also boasts a huge number of well-known actors and actresses! But why do we think YG and Pledis should have a collaboration? Well, Pledis's popularity with Seventeen is drawing much attention to their label as of late, and we think that with the help of YG Ent.'s incredible producers (Teddy Park, Lydia Paek, Choice37, etc.), a collaboration with a YG soloist may win Seventeen a big hit in the future.
5. JYP Entertainment x Starship Entertainment
JYP Entertainment operates not only as a record label but also as a talent agency and production hub! With artists like GOT7, Twice, Day6, and 2PM, JYP Ent. is easily in the top record label companies in Korea. Much smaller in comparison is Starship Entertainment, though it is not home to nearly as many artists, Starship still boasts an impressive lineup featuring artists like K.Will, Monsta X, Boyfriend, UNIQ and more. But why do we want a JYP x Starship collaboration? Well, Starship is one of the youngest record labels in South Korea. By combining the youthful vigor of new and fresh ideas coming from Starship Ent. with JYP Ent.'s global market attack tactics, the two record labels could feasibly create a song that resonates with both domestic and overseas audiences while maintaining originality.
