17 Best BoA Songs to Celebrate Her 17th Anniversary

Boa
1. Hurricane Venus
"Hurricane Venus" was one of BoA's most high-impact comebacks ever, with the song giving fans a dose of powerful diva sass that they'd remember for years. The song became an instant hit for her following a long absence from the Korean scene, proving her staying power. It's BoA at her most glamorous, truly living up to her namesake of "Best of Asia."
2. Eien
Perhaps the strongest song out of her entire Japanese catalogue, "Eien" was a late-era R&B single for BoA released during perhaps the busiest time of her career. Although she was balancing promoting separate albums in Japan and America at the same time, BoA gave "Eien" her all and made a true late 2000s pop classic. The chorus is as melancholy as it is memorable.
3. Girls On Top
"Girls On Top" is something of a mission statement for BoA, declaring her intent to be treated as seriously as her male peers. It was pop with a message and came out during a transitional period for SM Entertainment that found their acts often playing the roles of socially conscious rockers or hip-hoppers. Its highly memorable stage dance routine features her riding the shoulders of her male backup dancers, perched upon them like a queen.
4. Woo Weekend
This track is fun, upbeat, and dips just far enough into the new jack swing style to make older fans nostalgic. It features a euphoric chorus, playful verses and a whole lot of personality. Although BoA had lost some footing in Japan by this point, her music was still sensational as always.
5. Valenti
If there's a track that could be described as "peak BoA," this is it. BoA is remarkable because her career extends across countries and decades, and this is where it started to become apparent that she'd be a truly big deal. Many have compared her to Britney Spears, and with good reason: she was simply the biggest of the big.
6. Eat You Up
After years of successfully slaying both Korea and Japan, BoA attempted to expand into the American music industry in 2008 with this song and a self titled album. There were plenty of great things going on, but the States weren't quite ready to hop on the K-Pop train yet. This song serves as one of the strongest standouts from that period in her career, and is a pretty solid pop track independent of its context.
7. Believe In Love
As a featured artist on the groundbreaking and remarkably catchy "Ravex" compilation album, BoA gave one of her most emotional performances yet. Although the original version of the song is a melancholy electronic tune, the acoustic version included on her "Eien" single is what caught the attention of many fans in the long run. "Believe In Love" shows a sadness and longing not usually found in BoA's music, and is definitely a keeper for that reason.
8. Do The Motion
During a commercial peak in Japan that saw her racking up #1 singles and remarkably high selling albums, "Do The Motion" was released and instantly propelled BoA further. It's a fun jazz and bossa nova influenced song, and certainly adds diversity to her catalogue. BoA was one of the first bonafide Hallyu stars in Japan and set so many records with her career, and "Do The Motion" is the sound of her hitting her stride.
9. The Shadow
A perk of BoA's long career is fans getting to see her more recent releases, during which she's in "grown woman" mode. It's a powerful vibe - just check out the choreography and vocals on this one.
10. Possibility (feat. Daichi Miura)
Perhaps one of the strongest tracks in BoA's discography, "Possibility" is a sweeping and spectacularly produced duet with male singer Daichi Miura released later into BoA's Japanese career. The two sound made for each other, with a kind of couple's chemistry that we rarely get to see from SM Entertainment-bred artists. The track is romantic and resonant at the same time.
11. Disturbance
A beautiful song that was written by BoA herself. The MV also received a lot of attention because of SHINee's Taemin.
12. Bump Bump!
One of BoA's catchiest songs, I hum this song randomly even 8 years later. The rapping of m-flo also is a great complement to the fast pace beat.
13. Moto
2005 is the year and BoA was the girl on top of the K-pop world. Moto is a bop' even today.
14. Sweet Impact
You get Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal" vibes here and it has a sweet impact on the ears.
15. Kiss My Lips
BoA has matured into a mighty fine lady and she showcases her growth here. "Kiss My Lips" is a tune that is so chill and easy to listen to.
16. Only One
BoA is not only known for her vocals but also her superb dancing. In "Only One" she shows that she is still one of the best dancers in K-pop.
17. No. 1
BoA is the Queen of K-pop, you can see her full talent on display here even when she was only 15-years-old.
