A rep of Starship Entertainment revealed the details on SISTAR's disbandment.

Recently, SISTAR shocked the public by announcing that they have decided to go their separate ways after 7 years together.

According to Segye Ilbo, the rule was that SISTAR will disband if at least one of the members expresses their wish to leave the group.

A rep from their agency explained that the member who wanted to proceed with the disbandment was Hyorin, who has a strong passion for her solo career. The rep stated, "Now or later, her wish will be the same even if they promote as a girl group for several more years. I think that's why she brought up the courage to disband."

Hyorin is well known for her amazing vocals and has also recently completed her solo North American tour. It's reported that she wants to expand her singing career as a solo artist and her members and agency decided to respect her decision.

As a result, the members have come to a fair agreement to go their separate ways. Hyorin, Bora, and Soyu will continue their careers as singers while Dasom will shift gears into acting.

Not entirely surprised by this. Usually this is the way it works for groups. Artists want to spread their wings when there's still time.

Kinda like 4minute with Hyuna. I kinda don't blame Hyolyn though. I mean her company doesn't really want too let her do the type of music she wants. Stuck in a group doing what you don't want to do can weigh on you heavily. All the others are going to do what they want now also.

I think we all kinda saw this coming. Sistar has basically been Hyrorin ft. Everyone else since her voice is so strong and powerful. Sooner or later she would've want to focus on a solo career. Don't get me wrong, I think Sistar sounds great as a group and I'm glad they lasted as long as they did. I hope hear exciting things from all 4 girls in the near future!

Bora isn't a singer though.

She could be a singer if given a chance, they didnt really gave her a lot of chance to showcase it

Bora apparently knows how to sing and love to sing. If you don"t have seen it, look at the video on VLive : 보라에게 물.어.봐! (보고싶어. STAR1). We can hear her sing : 01:18:10, 01:22:30, and after 01:30:35. And she often sing in the video. Not a great singer, she's more dancer and rapper. But with practice, I think she could be a correct singer.

Article seems unreliable but i kinda guess it. Imo i think hyolyn would want to venture internationally and im supportin her cos korea kindaa sleeps on her. The members are close like sisters and supportive of each other so i'm pretty sure there was a mutual agreement to disband. Each of them found their niche and is doing decently. hyolyn singing; soyou collabs/singing; bora hosting/acting/singing maybe; dasom acting. Well u guys could say that she could've stayed with the group and still does solo like taeyeon. snsd has a huge ass hardcore fandom compared to sistar's small fandom. Huge fan of sistar here but i cant deny the fandom is declining even with dope music and no scandals. Disbanding is sooner or later..yes it's cruel and sad. Honestly, i wish they lasted a few more years. But then i accepted this cos i rather they walked off proudly as the legendary summer queens where ppl still wants them. And yes, ill be there to support them in their individual paths. This is my opinion, dont bash me and i dont wanna debate either thx. #ThankYouSistar

Sounds like 2NE1 disbandment, because of CL's solo activities the members are left aparts. Still remember when CL said "I WAS on a girlgroup" without even mentioning 2NE1's name members on her solo concerts and singing 2NE1's song by herself (before the disband). I'm glad that Minzy lefts 2NE1 before the disbandment to show there was a problem in the group. For Sistar I'm not sure about their strategy, because they only do comeback in Summer, so they can make the solos + group activity easily.

Lmao, what's your source? Last time I checked, Minzy left because YG wasn't giving her solo activity when 2NE1 was on hiatus. And CL has a long path ahead of her when it comes to debuting in America. Why not perform with 2NE1 while she still has so many steps to climb before she truly conquers America? She could've done both.

Sh basically said that same thing that you said. She said it's cls fault

SecondLeadQueen5 BlackjackOneLove Tuesday, June 6, 2017

Agreed. CL is never gonna be a big deal in America. I'm sorry but it needs to be said. She's pretty and talented but the time it's gonna take for her name to really get out there. She'll have exhausted all her new company's resources.

Aiii haha why not?

diela_uknow7 Tuesday, June 6, 2017

I thought Bora also want to pursued her acting career

SecondLeadQueen5 diela_uknow7 Tuesday, June 6, 2017

She should join a variety show.

jeyjin Tuesday, June 6, 2017

I don't see what the company has to gain by throwing Hyorin under the bus like that.

Her solo career right now may not be as successful as sistar's but it's a challenge that she is willing to take because it's her ultimate dream to perform solo. I call that... being brave. & I respect her for that. Not everything is about money y'know. She may have been the one to raise it out but the others agreed to disband as well. There is more to the story than meets the eye so stop making hyolyn into a bad person. She probably had held a discussion with the members to hear their views. You can see that sistar is still as tight as ever from their instagram posts. This shows that there are no bad feelings for one another. I'm sad that they disbanded but all good things come to an end. They will disband sooner or later so I rather they disband at their peak and be remembered as legendary "summer queens" than to slowly fade out from the idol scene. As you know, girl groups don't last as long as boy groups and there are so many new and younger idol groups coming out right now. They probably thought the same too and decided to disband. Anyway, sistar is a group that consists of very talented individuals where all of them will be able to excel in their own new path.
