A malicious commenter who spread false information targeting Seventeen has been referred to the prosecution, with PLEDIS Entertainment reaffirming its zero tolerance stance.
On the 29th, PLEDIS shared an update via Weverse regarding its ongoing legal response to posts infringing on Seventeen’s rights. The agency stated that since early this year, it has filed multiple criminal complaints related to the spread of false information, defamation, and insults, with several cases now advancing to the prosecution stage.
In one case, investigators found defamation charges to be valid against an individual referred to as A, with the case now forwarded to the prosecution. PLEDIS stressed that spreading false information is a clear criminal act and that no settlements or leniency will be considered.
The agency also addressed its response to overseas malicious accounts, revealing that a US court approved a request in November to disclose information related to an X account that repeatedly targeted Seventeen. PLEDIS is working with a local law firm and plans to pursue both civil and criminal action once the individual’s identity is confirmed.
Additionally, PLEDIS disclosed that a court recently finalized a guilty verdict and fine against an individual who leaked unreleased album and concert information, noting that such actions cause serious harm to both the artists and the company.
PLEDIS concluded by stating that it has strengthened real time monitoring across online platforms and thanked fans for their continued reports, vowing to protect all Seventeen members, including those currently serving in the military.
