Super Junior's Heechul has been named as the homeroom teacher for Mnet's upcoming variety show, 'Idol School'!

The show, set to premiere some time in July, will create an educational institution aimed solely for training female students to become girl group members. The students will participate in an 11-week program at the school, after which they'll take a graduation exam, and those with the highest scores get to debut in a new girl group immediately after, in the latter half of 2017.

Super Junior's Heechul, an idol member going on his 13th year since debut, will pass down his personal experiences to his students, acting as their guardian, teacher, and trainer.

What do you think of Heechul as a homeroom teacher?

Is this like the second version of Produce 101?

When I read Heechul is gonna MC a show, I was like, "No way! I'm definitely gonna watch this!" Then I realize the Idol School is similar to produce 101. I actually frowned. Then I read a comment that it's a school for talent-less or undiscovered talents. So I'm like, "Okay. Still gonna watch it." I'm gonna watch it if the girls have the determination and it's their dream to become idols. I'm really fed up on hearing trainers ask the trainees if they really wants this path of career. Then trainees become speechless and doubt themselves. I really hate watching that kind of scene. If the trainees have that mindset, I'm not gonna watch until the end of the episode even if Heechul is their. Maybe I'll watch half way through.

Agreed...I'm really only watching for Heechul :I

What is the point of "talented idol show", when in the real world untalented idol is the most famous one?

circadianite LookingForFun Thursday, May 25, 2017

Not true.

Has there been a MC job Heechul has even turned down?  He's hosting half of Korean TV.

Winston jokerfish Wednesday, May 24, 2017

He has. He said he wont do any shows that are outside studio, since he only do indoor shows, and that the show "Lets Eat Dinner" which he went on, he said thats as far "outdoors" as he was willing to go on. (partly its was due to a promise to go on the show that he agreed on for Ask Me anything bros)

jokerfish Winston Wednesday, May 24, 2017

Lol seriously? god he's amazing.

Winston jokerfish Wednesday, May 24, 2017

He also said he hates to appear as a guest on variety shows and rather do the show if he is an MC only. which explains why he is mostly the host and not as a special guest.

Winston jokerfish Wednesday, May 24, 2017

I think the MC "Kings" (as in those who host a LARGE number of shows, and not the best MC) are like Jun Hyun Moo, Kim Gura (he has 10 shows he said), and now maybe add in Kim Heechul. lol though i dun think HC has 10 shows at the moment.

I honestly dislike the idea of this show so fucking much... as if idols' talent wasn't already so underrated, now we get a show that shows that even if you can't dance or sing for shit and don't even have the interest in it, you can still become an idol if you are pretty! But my ass loves Heechul too much, I will end up watching this thing...

Winston iisstf28 Tuesday, May 23, 2017

Well its too early to judge the show before even seeing the "quality" of the trainees, there may be surprises and uncover some talents like how Kpop Star uncovered talents like Boyfriend , Han Byul and such.

iisstf28 Winston Wednesday, May 24, 2017

They literally say they want people who never had danced or sang at all. Like... maybe I would like this if they genuinely wanted to become idols... but if at that point you have never had a singing class or dance class... I'm pretty damn sure you really don't want this that much... this is just pretty girls that want to become celebrities, not idols... maybe some rookie actresses wanting some promo...

Winston iisstf28 Wednesday, May 24, 2017

There is still a possibly of uncovering some talents since for programs like singing contests, sometimes we get people who never really have professional singing lessons, and wow the audience with their voices, (like I can see your voice or Fantastic Duo) and some may be some "dance gene" in them and often do cover dances of idol groups at home or in school.

iisstf28 Winston Wednesday, May 24, 2017

I seriously hope you are right... because from how they were presenting the show it seems like they really just wanted untalented pretty faces
