Gary opened up about 'Running Man' and his departure from the show.

During an interview with China's Sina News, Gary revealed that 'Running Man' was the best memory and challenge of his life.

He explained, "'Running Man' was my first variety show. After leaving 'Running Man', a lot of concerns ran through my mind. I was worried that people will perceive me negatively. However, I'm thankful that many waited for my music and gave me encouragement. I'll work hard to make music so I can communicate (with my fans)."

As long as he keeps his promise and pops up every once in a while, I'm not too sad. But I maybe never would have found his music without Running Man, and I'm grateful I did, he has epic songwriting talent.

7 years is a good amount of time with a job, actually a long time considering where I am at this point in my life. If he's going for his dreams...we wish him the best.

good luck to him!

RM just not the same anymore, good luck Mr. Kang

Gary does have a big impact, much, much bigger than Song Joong Ki and Lizzy ever did. But I still support RM and I'm happy that they're back on the air.

To be fair, Gary had much more time to learn variety then SJK and Lizzy.

k_kid Cherry_Peche Wednesday, February 15, 2017

He did, but I like how he was loyal to the show for all these years. Song Joong Ki, in all honesty, was just there to have his name known which he succeeded big time.

Perhaps so, but SJK also had scheduling issues . He did try for a time to keep up with the show, only recording once or twice a month if I remember correctly, but I suppose it didn't work out. To me, that means he still wanted the show, or he could have just been like Lizzy (who I guess Plediz pulled out, as she mentioned she was depressed and didn't want to leave the show) who was supposedly pulled out after a few episodes because of schedule conflicts.

People like SJK, for me at least, was never in it for the long run. I believe he stated that he wanted to focus on his acting career more and left once his popularity started to increase just as Lee Chun Hee and Park Yejin left Family Outing when their popularity started getting bigger. You can tell Lee Kwang Soo was attached to the show from the beginning when he came straight to RM recording even after filming a drama practically the entire day. LKS films movies, dramas, CFs, and still comes to every single RM recording. Like I'm not blaming SJK for leaving and see him in a negative light or anything since he did what he needed to do to make a living and protect his image as an actor. Lizzy is a different story though.

idk, i never got the feeling SJK wanted to leave. but of course, it's subjective, so yeah

k_kid Cherry_Peche Thursday, February 16, 2017

True, it's subjective.
