It was recently revealed that Min Jin Gi would be stepping down from 'SNL Korea' as PD, shortly after the show ran parody skits of President Park and Choi Soon-Sil. Because of this, rumors had been popping up that the government had some influence in the decision but a tvN representative stepped forward to deny all such rumors and stated, "PD Min Jin Gi had to step down due to time restraints, he is working on a new program that it scheduled to launch early next year."

The tvN rep also revealed that two PD's named Kim Min Gyung and Kwon Sung Wook will be filling in for Min Jin Gi for the time being.

'SNL Korea' has had a long history of parodying the government, past sketches such as the 'Yeouido Teletubbies' parodied the 2012 Presidential Election.
