A 36-year-old woman by the surname Kim has lost custody of her child for remaining silent while her live-in boyfriend raped her own daughter.
According to reports, Kim and her boyfriend Shin, also 36 years old, met and started to live together a couple of years ago. Kim had been living alone with her 13-year-old daughter prior to meeting Shin.
The live-in boyfriend, Shin, started to sexually abuse the girl in August of last year. Shin committed the atrocities while the mother was out or was asleep. Over the period of 6 months, the 13-year-old girl was raped 7 different times.
The girl who suffered alone for months finally got the courage and told her mother of the sexual assaults. However, Kim not only failed to report the abuse but actively ignored her daughter's painful experiences.

The ones who came to the girl's rescue were the neighbors. Police received reports of abuse from the residents who lived nearby and arrested Shin for child abuse.
When the boyfriend got arrested, the mother became even colder. Kim forged a settlement paper using her daughter's name and submitted it to the police, trying to release him, and even wrote a petition letter to ask for lighter punishment.
Even in court, her mother showed up as a witness for the boyfriend, begging for lighter sentencing, shocking everyone. Upon seeing the mother who had no shame and no sense of responsibility, the court took away the mother's parental rights, taking away custody of her daughter.
Shin, the perpetrator, was sentenced to 9 years in prison, but is asking to appeal the decision, arguing that the punishment is too harsh.
