Ga In was peeved that Seo In Young used informal speech on Narsha?

On the September 28 episode of 'Radio Star,' Ga In relayed the story of how peeved she had gotten when Seo In Young didn't use proper honorifics toward Narsha

Ga In explained that Narsha had promoted in the past by lowering her age on her profile, leading Seo In Young to mistakenly believe that Narsha was younger than her. Seo In Young recalled, "She was cute so I had dropped my honorifics."

Ga In, however, wasn't too pleased with Seo In Young's lack of respect towards her "elder." She said, "[Seo In Young] said to Narsha, 'You are so cute.' At first, I was pissed." A surprised Seo In Young turned to Ga In, who was sitting right next to her, and blurted, "You were pissed? You?

Ga In, not wanting to offend Seo In Young, carefully explained, "Even though Narsha told [Seo In Young] that she is older, Seo In Young continued to use informal speech. So I thought the other [Brown Eyed Girls] members would put their foot down but they simply said, 'Yes. We are older.' They were basically afraid of Seo In Young."

Seo In Young revealed why she dropped formal speech, saying, "If I like someone, then I try to be friendly with them. So this story comes as a bit of a surprise to me. I'm honestly a bit annoyed."

Just seems like a simple misunderstanding! Seo In Young was just trying to be friendly in her own way and it seems Ga In took in the wrong way. Hopefully, Seo In Young and Brown Eyed Girls are cool now!

I find this really weird but it's a cultural matter i guess... This whole over-respectful thing is a bit complicated for me :s

People have names for a reason. NOT calling them by their name is demeaning and reducing them to just another statistic. This is why Korea has such a bullying problem. Everyone is dehumanized by this so called "respect".

What I find confusing is that, Seo In Young did not even diss Narsha... she said that Narsha was cute and said it informaly or whatever ... so why make it a big deal? What's more confusing is I'm pretty sure Ga In and Seo In Young did not drag this on and are cool now while netizens think they are Gods who can make a big deal out of this.

Can I point out the irony in that Ga-In is calling out Seo In Young for her manners when Ga-In is not only younger, but also a hoobae to Seo In Young? This is the same confusion that causes awkward relationships between idol like Jang Suwon (Sechskies) and Kim Jong Min (Koyote) that they talked about on LotJ... Jang Suwon is younger but a sunbae, JongMin is older, but hoobae, so who has to speak formally to who?

In our country... calling anyone simply by their name is not rude at all... In South korea.. ahmm.. never mind... Titles titles titles... all titles..

talking about "K" people, theyre different when they get settled to diff country, they become rude, they forget where they came from, 96% turn around.

When I was in high school I always thought Ga In was one of the older members of BEG, but she is the youngest and not that much older than me. Cray.

Blue82 Wednesday, September 28, 2016

This is ridiculous. It started with a mistaken age issue and since she had already been addressing her informally it would be awkward to switch once the truth about the age difference came out. This was a non-issue and it makes Ga In come across as anal retentive and very snobby. Most other Korean celebrities would have brushed it off because Narsha promoted younger. The mistake started there and she didn't appear to have a problem with it. It's none of Ga In's business either. It was a matter between two other people.

I really don't understand the whole honorifics thing is Korea? I mean in America when speaking to an "elder" all we do is say yes ma'am or no sir depending on what's being asked and we talk a little more politely but other than that we speak to everyone the same. And if you're 3-4 years older than me you can believe I'm going to talk to you the same as some one my age.

DeeDeer Asia2412 Wednesday, September 28, 2016

In my country some tribe have the same rule, polite words (honorifics) for talking to eldery or strangers and common words for talking to people with the same level of age or lower...(friends etc) but from what I see only korean who make those things big fuss...the reaction is too much

themightymoron Asia2412 Wednesday, September 28, 2016

well, they were a monarch with strong feudalism culture. i guess that feudalism still holds in another form...

k_kid Asia2412 Wednesday, September 28, 2016

It's just different culture. You can't do anything about it. You just have to accept it. It's all about respect in Korea. Japan is also very big on respect as well.

AOA_Seolhyunxo k_kid Thursday, September 29, 2016

I agree but Koreans tend to be more strict in comparison to Japanese people. I have friends who are Japanese and are from Japan who are into K-pop and we were discussing about honorifics issue and they said it isn't a big deal in Japan while in Korea it seems to be a huge deal.

k_kid AOA_Seolhyunxo Thursday, September 29, 2016

Depends on the people. I have Korean friends whose family are really laid back and aren't strict or anything and I also have Japanese friends where their family rules are almost suffocating and vice versa. But overall, their outlook on respect are almost the same.

Shit girl don't go all Lee Tae Im on us. Can't deal with another psycho.

starempress pink_oracle Wednesday, September 28, 2016

That won't happen here, Seo In Young's strong image tends to keep even the sunbaes on edge (granted, most people are afraid of her...)

pink_oracle starempress Thursday, September 29, 2016

Yeah but, any excuse to call out Lee Tae Im you know?

starempress pink_oracle Thursday, September 29, 2016

that whole issue was basically what happens when you put bad stuff with worse, its like when fans joke about putting two REALLY incompatible personalities together where it actually happened here. Lee TaeIm has a kind of princess complex to be taking that kind of speech seriously enough to slap her, Yewon was from a group where the members at some points in time had a considerably large age range (stuff gets complicated), no one ever considered the clueless staff member who decided it was a great idea to post the video without knowing the whole story (Yewon wasn't the one who went public with it, this stuff probably happens all the time behind the scenes,) and then there's the crap management of StarEmpire who has nothing to offer their artists except for more trouble, and then the original company dynamics where you realize, Yewon was besties with Kwanghee who is like that with everyone (friendly and quick to get friendly, habits rub off) and some artists under StarEmpire are on the extreme side of a gradient, like comparing Kwanghee to Siwan who spoke formally to a fellow artist even after having talked several dozen times over a few years... that whole crap was a giant mess and while Lee TaeIm was the seed that started the mess, StarEmpire helped water it...
