Celebrities' SNS posts that birthed controversies

misc.

In light of all the recent SNS controversies, let's revisit some of the ones of the past and present to see what all the big deal was about!  Some were ridiculous and some were understandable; what do you make of the controversies below?

Girls' Generation's Tiffany

Might as well get this out of the way!  Tiffany posted a snapchat picture, using Japan's 'rising sun flag' filter on Korea's Independence Day.  This was a big deal because the day was to celebrate Korea's independence from Japan's imperial reign, yet she unfortunately used a symbol of that imperialism.

Sulli

This is not the first time Sulli created a controversy for her "sexual" Instagram posts, but this time, she surprisingly deleted it, whereas before, she had more of a blase attitude. People claimed this one with Hara was too 'lolita' and sexual, so here's just one example from her many controversial posts.

miss A's Min

She posted Rick Ross's head onto Sunmi's body and added a chicken wing, making it seemed like he was crawling toward it.  People accused her of being racist, although some people defended her, saying there were many memes of him and chicken, and he even owned a chicken joint.

Jung Ga Eun

The actress posted a picture of her breastfeeding her newborn, and this created a huge ruckus from people who said this was inappropriate.  Unfazed, she has defended her post and left it on her Instagram.

Jay Park

The soloist posted an Instagram picture of himself holding up the middle finger and smiling at the camera, which disturbed some people; as a result, he wrote an apology, but also said he can't satisfy everybody.

Moon Geun Young

The actress joked with fans on Instagram, but her joke was read the wrong way by others who did not know her so well.  While fans knew she was kidding around, others took her to being a diva demanding gifts from presents, hence resulting in the 'gifting controversy.' She gave an explanation later on to clear up misunderstandings.

2NE1's CL

CL was showing off...err...what her mama gave her on her Instagram which didn't sit well with many people. A lot of them flooded the post with negative comments, accusing the star for being "too American" and trying to sell sex.

Jung Doo Ri

'Maxim' model wrote a bunch of Tweets following the news of IU's relationship with Jang Kiha stating that she should date someone like EXO instead.  Some EXO fans weren't too fond of that, nor were those who didn't think it was any of her business whom IU dated.

Im Soo Jung

Actress Im Soo Jung had to defend her no-makeup selcas after people gave her hate for them. Instead of apologizing, she defended herself, saying she normally did not like to wear a lot of makeup anyway.

Super Junior's Siwon

Known to come from a religious family, Siwon re-tweeted the viewpoints of a pastor who supports traditional marriage, offending people with his seemingly negative view on same-sex marriage.  They called him homophobic, and he later apologized.

Go Kyung Pyo

Go Kyung Pyo has always been known to be an outspoken fella, and more than once his ranting on social media became controversies. But the most controversial of them all would have to be his scathing response to K-netz and their claims that Ryu Seung Ryong made "sexist" and "derogatory" remarks regarding Suzy.

Big Bang's Taeyang

The idol posted an Instagram post of himself glamoured as Kanye West using a face swapping app, and proceeded to wish everyone a "happy monkey New Year." Many accused him of being "racist," compelling him remove the clip and even upload an apology.

Ryu Joon Yeol

Ryu Joon Yeol somehow got linked to extremist right-wing group 'Ilbe' for a picture he uploaded of himself...rock climbing. Yes, the theories just get crazier and crazier, but the crazier it seems, the bigger of an issue they become. The actor's agency even had to step forward with an explanation clarifying that the picture had nothing to do with 'Ilbe.
