The June 6 episode of tvN's 'Myeong Dan Gong Gae 2016' (simply know as 'The List 2016') revealed a list titled 'The Winners and Losers in the War of Casting.'

On this list, Song Joong Ki came in second place as the actor who has landed the most roles by sheer dumb luck. The actor is well known especially in Asia thanks to his recent role in 'Descendants of the Sun.' However, only a select few know that Song Joong Ki actually landed the role partly by luck as the other A-listers who contended for Yoo Shi Jin's role rejected it.

These contenders included big names such as Won Bin, Jo In Sung, Gong Yoo, and Kim Woo Bin. It was revealed that these stars rejected the role of Yoo Shi Jin because they felt burdened by the fact that they would have to shave their hair, that filming would take overseas, and particularly that the drama would be 100% pre-produced rather than produced as the drama airs.

Lady Luck really must have been on Song Joong Ki's side as 'DOTS' went on to become one of his most popular dramas!  Could you imagine any of the others playing the same part?

Who's to say with those other candidates the drama would be this big hit.  I think they made the right decision casting SJK.  Also, wouldnt a pre production be a bit easier...alot less of that rushing "25/8 schedule-"film as you air" that kdramas do.

The person who deserves the role got it!! Not that the others are bad, but the ultimate effect would have been entirely different.

Tried imagining every korean actor in SJK place- no offence to anyone but honestly no-one fits. This was his role and he chose wisely!!

i'm glad it's SJK oppa. but still, won bin is perfect for this role XD can't forget his chemistry with SHK in autumn in my heart

the only other actor that i would love to be in SJK's place is Jo In Sung, he had mad chemistry with the actress already from That Winter the Wind Blow or whatever...I love that drama btw, just forgot the name haha! Now I wonder what it would've been like with him, damn it. ):

I love the cute and masculine side that SJK brought to his character. His character was playful and charming but also really serious. He did a really good job portraying that. SJK's acting made this drama a hit not luck.
