We already know 'Descendants of the Sun' is incredibly popular in China, but just how popular is it? Well, it's popular enough to have surpassed 2 billion views!
The series, which is being simultaneously broadcast on iqiyi.com, hit a cumulative 2 billion views milestone on April 6. 'Descendants of the Sun' had reached a total of 300 million views by its fourth episode, so 2 billion is more than six times the view count since then.

On a per episode basis, the drama records well over 100 millions views. For a drama that hasn't even concluded to record 2 billion views in a country with around 700 million people with access to the internet is quite an exceptional feat. With an A-list cast and a plot that covers both love and war, it's no wonder that the drama is doing so well.
