According to the Gaon Chart's analysis of 2015's fourth quarter album sales, SM dominated the music scene, taking first place with 11.4% of the total market share.
The artists--or songs to be exact--who contributed most to SM's distended market share in the fourth quarter were Taeyeon and f(x). In particular, Taeyeon's solo single "I" and f(x)'s "4 Walls," both of which swept the charts, were found to be the songs that helped SM top album sales for the fourth quarter.
Close behind SM was YG Entertainment, placing second place with 11.1% of the total market share. iKON's "My Type" and Psy's "Daddy" were the songs that contributed most to YG's market share. Loen Tree took third place with 9.3%, and media conglomerate CJ E&M came in fourth place with 8.6% of the total market share. The top ten agencies took 66% of the overall album sales, which is 2% lower than in the previous quarter.
