Previously, one news report revealed that "SM Entertainment is preparing to debut boy group 'NCT' and their 5 separate teams simultaneously with 1 team in Korea, 1 team in Japan, and 3 teams in China. A very positive reaction on SM's stocks is expected from the results of the label's new group."

The news report also highlighted that with assurance for NCT's guaranteed success in the latter half of the year, an ongoing investor of SM has confirmed their continuous investment and partnership with the label.

Since the report, a representative of SM Entertainment has stepped up to correct the false rumors regarding NCT's debut, stating, "The report that NCT's 5 teams will debut simultaneously is false. As we previously mentioned during NCT's presentation show, we plan on debuting several units in a pre-determined order before the debut of the entire group."

According to SM Entertainment's 'SMTown: New Culture Technology 2016' presentation show released this past February, NCT will be a new type of boy group without a set number of members. The group will be active in 5 separate teams with members from various teams breaking off to collaborate in different units and in different languages.
