The singer explained, "At the request of my friend, I went to an SM audition to dance with her, and that's how I entered the company."�

She added, "I didn't get to debut until my seventh year as a trainee. All the friends that had trained with me debuted quickly and appeared on TV. I was about to quit when an opportunity arose," giving the backstory of how she came to be a part of one of the biggest girl groups in K-Pop.�
