TVXQ's 8th Japanese studio album 'WITH' topped Oricon's Monthly Album Chart for December with sales of 244,116 copies and Big Bang's 'THE BEST OF BIGBANG 2006-2014' also enjoyed sales success, charting #1 on Oricon's Weekly Album Chart after its release on November 26. However, this is not all as the number of sales qualifies both TVXQ and Big Bang for "Platinum" and "Gold" status respectively!
According to the RIAJ, or Recording Industry Association of Japan, an album needs to sell over 250,000 copies to be certified "Platinum" and below that is the "Gold" certification, meaning that an album needs to sell over 100,000 copies. The RIAJ website was recently updated showing that 'WITH' was certified "Platinum" and 'THE BEST OF BIGBANG 2006-2014' was certified "Gold."
