According to entertainment insiders who spoke with the bereaved family on the 3rd, Joanne got into a car accident in the States the day before Thanksgiving on the 26th and was in a coma until the 2nd when she passed away.
Joanne made her debut as a singer in 2001 with "Good Day Sunshine" at the tender age of 13 with some calling her 'the second BoA'. She also appeared in the 2002 SBS sitcom 'Orange', but her career was soon put on hold due to a dispute with her agency. She returned to the States due to personal issues and was not heard from for a long time, so it came as a surprise when she appeared as a contestant on Mnet's 'Superstar K4' 10 years later. She is also the younger sister of the singer of the disbanded group TAKE's Lee Seung Hyun who is married to Chinese actress Qi Wei.
