Chrome Entertainment responds to backlash after asking fans for monetary contributions for charity instead of gifts

Crayon Pop
Crayon Pop has been met with backlash once again, but this time involving the issue of fan gifts.

Chrome Entertainment posted on Crayon Pop's official homepage,
"Hello? It's Chrome Entertainment. As much as your support for Crayon Pop is growing, the members are receiving many gifts. We sincerely thank you. As Crayon Pop rises in popularity, the scale of their fan base is rapidly increasing and it is sometimes difficult to handle all the presents, so we are writing this post to ask for fans' understanding.

From now on, the gifts we receive from fans, whether it's given on-site or via mail, will not be accepted. You can gift Crayon Pop in another way instead. We will soon open up a bank account specifically for presents. Those who want to offer gifts can enter a deposit into the account. Once the account reaches a certain sum, it will be donated to help those in need and charity organizations.

The money will be donated not in the agency's name, but in the fans' names. We will transparently disclose the specific details of the donation including the total amount and where we donate the money to. Rather than the Crayon Pop members keeping the huge love they receive from fans to themselves, they decided that it would be of greater value to share it with others together.
We ask for fans' understanding. Thank you."

Despite their good intentions to give back to those in need, the fact that they did not consult with fans prior to their decision did not go over so well, especially with those who had already prepared gifts or was planning to gift the girls with items that did not have monetary value.

In addition, the wording of the post, mentioning a special bank account being set up and asking fans to send in deposits (despite the mention about it being used for charity), rubbed many the wrong way and raised suspicions of onlookers. Enough so that Chrome Entertainment has posted another message, revealing their intention to rethink their previous decision.

The agency responded, "We apologize that our post about gifting and donation caused fans concern, different from our intentions. We will reflect more on the content and we will review and announce a plan through which we can work together with everyone."
