The "International Exposition Yeosu Korea 2012" held its opening ceremony.
Dating back to 1851, the World Expo customarily takes place every two or three years, with the last expo occurring in Shanghai, China in 2010 and drawing over 73 million people. The "Expo 2012 Yeosu Korea" is an international exposition with participation from more than 100 countries and international organizations. The Expo is located at the New Port Area in the port city of Yeosu, which is located at the southern edge of the Korean Peninsula. The Expo aims to help shed light on humankind's knowledge and advancement of technology concerning the Worlds oceans and coasts, identifying ways to resolve challenges facing the ocean. The expo will be held from May 12th to August 12th.
To help kick off the expo, top artists 2NE1, Big Bang, and IU performed at the Opening Ceremony concert.
