KARA's "Super Girl" goes platinum, Super Junior's "Mr. Simple" tops Oricon daily

As K-Pop continues to make its mark around the world, Japan remains the 'hot spot' for Hallyu. On December 11th, it was revealed that KARA, Super Junior, The Boss, and Rainbow had all entered the Oricon chart. KARA's "Super Girl" was certified Platinum by exceeding 400,000 copies in sales. Their 2nd studio album was released on November 23rd and achieved 275,206 copies in its first week, the best for any Korean girl group in Japan. They also topped the daily, weekly, and monthly Oricon charts, continuing KARA's success after their first album, "Girl's Talk", hit the 400,000 milestone. To date, they've sold 2,160,000 copies in Japan alone since their debut last year. Meanwhile, Super Junior topped the Oricon for the first time since their debut, as "Mr. Simple", their second Japanese single, recorded to first place on the daily single chart. The single sold 35,854 copies upon its release, coming out at second on the chart before finally making its way to the top this week. Previously, Super Junior had "Bonamana", their first Japanese single, place second on the Oricon daily chart and weekly chart in June. Other honorable mentions include The Boss' "Love Days", which placed eighth, and Rainbow's "Mach", which placed ninth. Source + Photos: Star News + Korean Journal via Naver
