MBC's Queen Seon Duk finally surpassed the 40% mark on 18th August, with episode 26, becoming the 4th Korean drama to go over the 40% mark in 2009. According to TNS Media Korea on the 19th, Queen Seon Duk achieved an impressive nationwide rating of 42%, which was higher than it's previous best of 39.5% set on 11th August. This was something that has been waiting to happen and this latest rating means that Queen Seon Duk can now be elevated into the status of a national drama. Before Queen Seon Duk, the only dramas that managed to go over the 40% mark in 2009 were KBS2TV's You're My Destiny, SBS's Temptation of Wife and Shining Inheritance. Affected by the brilliance of Queen Seon Duk, competing dramas SBS's Dream and KBS's Hometown Legends 2 could only muster ratings of 6.3% and 5.8% respectively, where the sum of those 2 ratings don't even come close to the former. And the next target for Queen Seon Duk will be to maintain it's ratings in the 40% range and hopefully hit the 50% mark, like a certain Jumong back in 2006 - 2007. It's wise to assume that any dramas that SBS or KBS throw out against Queen Seon Duk will be like throwing an egg against a wall. Queen Seon Duk is on the rise, especially with the plot getting even more exciting from now on, following the awakening of Deokman, the beginning of her fight to bring down Mishil and becoming the ruler of Shilla.
