The writer for 'Goblin,' Kim Eun Sook, spoke about how she is using the critiques she received to do a better job for the new drama.

Kim Eun Sook's list of successful dramas -- 'Descendants of the Sun,' 'Heirs,' 'Gentlemen's Dignity,' 'Secret Garden' and much more -- makes one easily understand why she is one of the highest paid drama writers in Korea. Top actors actively seek to be cast in her dramas, especially because she has the ability to portray her characters in a charming manner.

However, at a recent press interview for the new drama, 'Goblin,' Kim Eun Sook stated something surprising. She said that she has received comments about how she portrays her male characters versus her female characters, and she reassured viewers that she will try to do a better job at writing more attractive and complex female and male characters for 'Goblin.' Kim Eun Sook explained, "When I had a meeting with Kim Go Eun, I told her that this drama would be different [than the previous ones], that all of the characters would stand out."

During the press conference, Kim Eun Sook also thanked Gong Yoo, the lead character, for accepting her invitation to be in her drama after 5 long years of turning her down. She revealed that even though Gong Yoo rejected her offers for many years, but for this drama, he accepted right away!

I didn't really watch The Heirs and Secret Garden. I just didn't feel like watching them. I watched DOTS and I think it was really good except that it got just a bit boring sometime along the way. Gentlemen's Dignity was splendid. And I think Goblin is the best drama I've watched so far what with all the talented actors and really good story. So yeah, in my opinion, Kim Eun Sook is a great scriptwriter because all her dramas got popular and have refreshing storyline (except The Heirs lol).

If he turned down Heirs and DOTS then he did a good job, the plots were blank and very boring imoGoblin is deeper emotionally speaking and plot wise.

I watched Heirs with great difficulty. Honestly I think I managed to finished it only because I was "younger" back then and was craving some cliché romance drama. Then, DOTS came along, I seriously had a crush on Song Joongki's character but just couldn't get into the story (only watched like 2-3 episodes and got bored). I'll retry to watch it later but usually if a drama doesn't get my attention from the first episodes, it's not a good sign (since most dramas start really good and then go downhill toward the middle/end with lots of crying and miserable female lead). As for Goblin, I like it so far. Gong Yoo is handsome af, Sungjae is funny and cute, story seems ok and I'm actually curious about Lee DongWook and Yoo InNa's characters relationship. Really hope they manage to make it interesting as long as possible.

I agree wholeheartedly. After watching a drama like "Healer", many others doesn't just seem to cut it for me. The standards are high now, and not even the mainstream titles are holding my attention...

ohmygoodness completely agree with your comment on Heirs (also finished it but not cause I loved it or anything) and DOTS (I also gave up after ep 2, and dont plan to finish it... maybe years later when im bored :x).. and I also like Goblin, the first 3 eps were really good (but ep 4 was "eh" i was starting to get annoyed with the whining hopefully ep 5 makes up for ep 4)

I forgot that Gong Yoo rejected the offer to play the lead male character in DOTS and then Song Joong-Ki got the role instead.
