The idol also revealed that he is actually scared of ghosts, saying, "In reality I'm afraid of ghosts. I can't even go into haunted houses. In 2010 Ok Taecyeon applied for and received cancellation of his permanent resident status in the U.S. so that he could serve in the ROK military. He was deemed unfit for military service in 2008 because of a dislocated shoulder and his eyesight. This man went through at LEAST 3 operations that I've heard of to correct his eyesight and repair his body so that he could pass the physical for military service. I'm in a country where service is voluntary. He could have EASILY just accepted where he was and no one would have blamed him for it. But this man fought to serve his country and should be very much admired for this. I don't see Taecyeon as a conscript as the rest of the military there are. This is a volunteer. Someone who was not only open to service, he fought for it.

No. He lived in the U.S. for a while and had the right to return as a naturalized citizen, but he waived that so that he could serve in the ROK army.
