Rumors say YG Entertainment's new girl group is preparing to debut soon, but YGE has once again responded with an ambiguous answer.

According to OSEN News on May 17, Yang Hyun Suk is working on the label's brand new girl group. According to reports, the CEO met up with various MV directors recently, including those who worked on Big Bang, iKON, and more, to discuss their availability to film a new girl group MV.

The rumors surrounding YG's new girl group are not new. In fact, the girl group trainees were revealed on YG's official blog back in 2012, and Yang Hyun Suk talked about the group in 2013. Specific details about the group members, concepts, etc. are still unknown, but hopes for the group's debut have started up again with the recent report.

However, soon after the reports on May 17, YG announced, "It is true girl group trainees are consistently recording and practicing, however, their specific debut date has yet to be decided."

Are the recent reports just another addition to the ongoing rumors, or will Yang Hyun Suk finally unveil YG's new girl group?

He's going to have to debut a new girl group now that 2NE1 is slowing down. Top Companies need families to be #1

I think the hold up is simply that right now, YG's typical hip-hop style and edgy image aren't very popular. Groups that are using that concept aren't being too well recieved (Sonamoo, Girls Girls, Sol-T, Brave Girls, etc). Meanwhile, cute and girly concepts are very popular at the moment. Just look at all the currently popular girl groups; G-Friend, OMGirl, Lovelyz, Red Velvet, Twice, and even Mamamoo. They all have similar concepts; cute, pure, innocent, and girly. Just like at the start of the second generation, cute concepts were popular, but then people started wanting something different. In another year or two, YG will be in a better position to debut an edgy, bad ass girl group with an attitude.

Wait mamamoo's is different way different, their style is diva-ish and more focused on vocals rather than cute or sexy image. Another thing noone does the hiphop style better than YG that's y other GG who attempt a hiphop style don't do well, the reason for that is bcoz other companies force the image while YG look for artists who already has that swag in them
