Harisu is charged with promoting pornography?

AKP STAFF

Veteran singer, Lee Kwang Pil (44) has filed a charge with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against transsexual celebrity, Harisu (35) for promoting pornography through her photo exhibition, and violating the Youth Protection Act. The charge was filed on the 18th claiming that although the photo exhibition which had hoped to raise awareness of transgender people was restricted to those aged 19 and above, it was still harmful to youths as promotional (explicit) photos for the exhibition were freely distributed and published through media channels. This meant that anyone with access to newspapers and internet could view those material and become a bad influence to youths. With regards to the charge, Harisu's management expressed that she (Harisu) wasn't the main organizer for this exhibition. Harisu had only filmed a few photos for the exhibition and the explicit photos wasn't done by her anyway. So there wasn't any legal grounds for Lee Kwang Pil to file a charge against Harisu. The organizers for the photo exhibition expressed that their aim was to raise awareness of transgender people and hoped that more people can shower more attention towards them. They also hoped to lower down the ostracization level shown towards them in Korea. They stressed that they are definitely not trying to use pornography or anything to earn money. The exhibition will continue until February 28th and became a controversy due to the fact that topless photos of transgender people were being displayed, resulting it being restricted to those aged 19 and above.
