Korean girls were put on the spot with questions about stereotypes that some people may harbor.

Numerous questions were asked in a video uploaded by YouTube channel Solfa. Some of the more provoking questions include: why Korean girls wear the same style of makeup, why Korean beauty standards always seem to emphasize 'white' (or lighter skin), if they really like caucasian men, and if they received any plastic surgery procedures.

These are some provocative questions! Some of the responses are pretty funny and candid, so watch above to see what these Korean girls have to say about their own stereotypes.

This set of clips are always entertaining, but the girls that feature seem to be from the same type of crowd, and a very small subset of the kinds of Korean girls out there. They seem to be like the generic, casual style, student type that has a little fun but not really into partying...   so their opinion really doesn't represent broadly.

I don't get why people like to point fingers at asian wanting "white" skin when westerners (along with some asian people) go miles out of their way to tan. Among the people I know, Caucasians and asians, no one really judges or criticizes others for having white/tan skin, but usually I've noticed that people who have fair skin are usually the ones who take care of their skin... hence have way less wrinkles and fine lines than the people who are tanner. I assume people who like to tan are exposed more to the sun and UV rays... which is like.. the #1 cause to skin aging... so seriously, I don't get why people give asian girls with fair skin so much crap.

It was pretty interesting to see their answer to the questions, although I was never really curious or wanted an answer to a majority of the questions, only the question about wanting white skin, but I found an answer to that quite some time ago. Okay, now I'm going to to suggest something that has nothing to do with the questions and answer. If you want a nice laugh put the on the Closed Caption, and see how youtube tries to figure out what the woman in the video are saying. I accidentally pressed cc and ended up having to re-watch the video since I was reading youtube version because I found it funny.

One in three Korean women get plastic surgery. It's not the majority, but that's a BIG statistic...

YASS! I've been following this channel for a while now, the "girls respond to hate comments" + "korean girls open their eyes" are the best videos ever XD

Asian have dark or white skin, single eyelid or double eyelid, so if they became dark or white skinned or with double eyelid... they still look asian. I feel lucky to be an asian, I have naturally double eyelid (I'm vietnamese), my skin is whiter than my French friends (I'm from France), so you can consider me as Asian beauty standard even if I don't do anything special to be in. When I was very young I remember how my french friends made fun of my single eyelid and now they said to me that I have anime eyes and always ask me why asian always do surgery. It's hopeless... And they always think me as Japanese or Korean because of my white skin, my big eyes and slim figure, when I say them I'm Vietnamese they looks disappointed, they makes me looks like I'm a wild asian... Western people use to think tan asians are South East Asian (wild, tropical stereotype etc) and white asians are civilized rich asians (japanese, korean, taiwanese ...). They think these rich asians are the most plastic too because they think white asians or double eyelids asians are not natural because they are persuaded that western women beauty standard are the most popular in the world, so these asians want to be like them. Western people seems to think they are the center of world, the most civilized, intelligent and respectable nation. Believe me, I live in France and racism is everywhere here, we are in crisis. Western people are the people who are the least familiar with asian culture and only want to know bad thing about asian culture, they love to know how wild and uncivilized asians can be(with the exception of Japan which Western people fantasize and love). Don't forget that most of you are packaged in a Western society that promotes a dominant culture and vision. Humility is almost nonexistent in the West, but is fundamental in Asia, this is where the visions confront.

I don't think they were ever asked if they knew the origins of white skin admiration though... It was more of a personal question.

Really? You don't think Koreans know about people thinking they worship white people? lol You're cute. They know and they think it's ridiculous. Do some research about how wanting white skin for East Asian women goes back centuries before they even saw a white person, in China, Korea, and Japan. Look at the paintings where beautiful courtly women are all portrayed with white skin. Read some of the poetry that talks about the paleness of these women. Ever seen a geisha with all white makeup? Yeah, they had been doing that centuries before they even saw a European trader. Sooo.... since you think you're so educated, care to drop your knowledge on us about how all of this is wrong and it's actually white worship that has basis in fact? lol

After you show me how you know that "Koreans themselves don't know the origins of white skin worship." kekekkekekekeke. Oh, the irony. kkkkkk. You moron.

Someone is blowing a fuse, lol. HA! I love it. Listen, you moron, "Why do Koreans like white skin?" is such a broad question. Yet, you take an off the cuff answer like, "I don't know" by one Korean woman and extrapolate it to mean "Koreans.. don't know the origins of white skin admiration" and question the educational attainment of the populace of an entire country. This makes you a certifiable idiot. It really does, except you're too stupid to realize it, lol. Really, think about how stupid your comment was. That's like my saying, since you're so stupid, I have to question the intelligence of whatever fucked up country you're from, lol.

HAHAHAHAHA! My, my, you are something. Read my comment again. What I said about your country was a simile. In other words, I was demonstrating how idiotic your comment was by writing something as equally idiotic. Whoosh!! More evidence that you're an idiot, lol. Please keep posting. I enjoy seeing you make a fool of yourself.

The question was "Why do YOU prefer white skin?" not "Why do Koreans like white skin" or "what are the origins of white skin admiration?" Their answers made sense in how they were trying to give their own personal reasons, and some of them were just like "because everyone else seems to do it--it's the trend". Now, afterwards, they were never asked "Why do you think it's the trend?" to which they could have talked about how long ago in Korea pale skin was a sign of higher class because it meant you were able to stay inside while darker skin was a sign of physical labor and thus lower class. But that wasn't the question. I agree that their answers seem to imply that they don't actually know about this historical fact but then again that wasn't what they were asked. So what I’m trying to say through all this is that your judgement of them seems to be a bit unfair.
