KATSEYE's Yoonchae has just made a surprising confession to fans.
On January 31, Yoonchae held a special livestream to connect with fans. Pulling in over 100,000 viewers, Yoonchae took the opportunity to update fans on her life and KATSEYE's busy schedule.
What grabbed fans' attention the most, however, was Yoonchae's surprising reveal that she has bought a car. Yoonchae admitted that she doesn't have a driver's license yet, but bought the car "for motivation" and because she really wanted it.
Yoonchae's reveal quickly became a controversial topic among K-netizens. While many showed their support for Yoonchae, others criticized her as being 'out-of-touch' and 'too rich to relate to.'
"It's causing me 'commoner's pain' to see her talk about buying a car at 18..."
"I'm jealous......"
"It does seem really out-of-touch with normal people to say something like this"
"Can you really buy a car without having a driver's license first?"
"It's actually reasonable, because in America, having a car is essential"
"Even people who have just started their careers sometimes have cars, so why is everyone complaining about feeling 'commoner's pain' about Yoonchae buying a car?"
"Seriously, people only complain when it's female celebrities buying things like this ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Yoonchae, fighting! Earn even more money and buy a house!!!!!!!"
"Honestly, I'm just jealous of how much Yoonchae's English has improved"
"With the amount of YouTube views she's getting, she seems very popular, so I'm guessing it wasn't a cheap car either ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ But it's not a crime to spend your own money"
"It's not like she said she bought a Porsche or a Lamborghini.. It's amazing how people are having a meltdown just because someone bought a car"
"She can buy a car if she wants, it's her choice, isn't it?"
"If Yoonchae, a member of a girl group that's been on the Billboard charts, had huge advertising deals, and performed at Lollapalooza, doesn't have enough money to buy a car after working for multiple years, isn't that a bigger problem? There are people at my company who buy cars after only working for a couple months"
