Musical actress and former Fin.K.L member Ock Joo Hyun recently opened up about a memorable comment from legendary singer Patti Kim, who once described her as “arrogant and conceited.”
On the September 8 broadcast of Channel A’s 'Table for 4,' Ock Joo Hyun shared the story. She explained that Patti Kim had appeared on her YouTube channel, where she was asked what they had in common. Patti Kim replied, “You’re arrogant, conceited, and stubborn. Why are you so much like me?”—pointing out their similar approach to the stage.
Ock Joo Hyun admitted she understood the remark, recalling her younger days with Fin.K.L: “During rehearsals, I once spent an hour on my solo stage while everyone else wrapped up in ten minutes. A music show director even told me, ‘Can’t you just do it moderately?’ and I answered, ‘How can I do my stage moderately?’”

She added, “As a singer, it’s my responsibility to show my very best. There’s no such thing as compromise on stage. When I shared this with Patti Kim, she laughed and said, ‘You’re exactly like me. But if you live like that, people will call you arrogant.’”
Ock Joo Hyun concluded that while the comment may have sounded harsh, she now sees it as a reminder of her unwavering passion for the stage.
