Iconic first-generation K-Pop group H.O.T. made a rare full-group appearance on the JTBC news program 'Newsroom' on September 28th, ahead of their first reunion stage in seven years.
The five members—Moon Hee Joon, Jang Woo Hyuk, Tony An, Kangta, and Lee Jae Won—sat down for an interview, marking their first full-group broadcast since a 2018 reunion.
The members shared their surprise at learning they were the inspiration for the fictional group 'Saja Boys' in the hit Netflix animation, 'K-Pop: Demon Hunters'. The show's director, Maggie Kang, had previously confirmed this. "I was so surprised," Tony Ahn said. "I never thought the director would mention us directly. I'm very thankful and would love to meet her." Kangta jokingly added, "I thought Cha Eun Woo was the model," bringing laughter to the studio.
H.O.T. will perform together for the first time in seven years at the '2025 Hanteo Music Festival' on November 22nd and 23rd. The group is scheduled to perform a set lasting over 60 minutes on both days of the festival. Looking ahead, the group also discussed plans for their 30th anniversary next year. "We are talking a lot and gathering opinions," they shared. "We're excited for next year and have even thought about holding a concert about once a year." Reflecting on their career, Moon Hee Joon said their debut was the most memorable moment. "Even though it was 29 years ago, it still appears in my dreams. The passion we had while dancing is still so vivid."
H.O.T. debuted in 1996 and reigned as one of the most dominant first-generation idol groups until their official disbandment in 2001. They produced numerous megahits, including "Descendants of Warriors", "Candy", "Happiness", "We Are The Future", and "Hope". The group previously reunited in 2018 for the show 'Infinite Challenge', which was followed by a sold-out solo concert.
