Many K-dramas win hearts with their gripping stories and exciting episodes, only to ruin it all with their endings. Have you ever watched a show where a not-so-great finale made the whole journey a bittersweet one? Over the years, there have been many such dramas that started off on a promising note and kept viewers engaged throughout, only to crash it all with a bad ending.

These endings have led to discussions and debates online. Let us look at seven K-dramas where fans felt confused and disappointed when they reached the ending. (Warning: Possible spoilers ahead!)

TWENTY FIVE TWENTY ONE

The ending of this show is one of the most debated in recent K-drama history. Fans were emotionally invested in the couple and hoped for a happy ending. Instead, the show gave a bittersweet goodbye, leaving many viewers sad and wishing for more closure. Some thought the ending was true to life and rather realistic, while others felt heartbroken.

REBORN RICH

What started off with a bang had a rather disappointing ending with too many plot holes. Many fans felt it took away from the whole journey of 15 episodes. The finale left viewers confused, wondering if it was all a dream. In the drama, the revenge ends with Hyun Woo waking from a coma, which is very different from the original web novel, where Do Jun succeeds, becomes chairman, and wins in the end.

VAGABOND

The ending made many fans frustrated and disappointed because it didn’t really give answers. Instead of closing the story, the show ended with new mysteries and left the fate of the characters unknown. Fans criticized the cliffhangers and lack of resolution. Many expected a second season, but there was no official confirmation, which kept the dissatisfaction alive.

ALCHEMY OF SOULS

Part 1’s ending shocked viewers and drew complaints about unanswered questions. Part 2 wrapped up more cleanly for some, who appreciated the closure, while others still felt the tone and character focus had shifted too much. Overall, reactions ranged a lot. Many still wanted more closure for certain characters, especially the second lead.

SQUID GAME

The first season was highly praised, but seasons two and three were major letdowns. Fans felt that many storylines were left unresolved and characters acted out of place, ignoring their earlier growth. The winner was someone unrelated to the main plot, the games kept going, and worst of all, detective Hwang finally met his brother, only to once again ask, “Hyung, why?"

LOVE ALARM

Fans felt mixed emotions about the way Love Alarm concluded. The story’s love triangle ended in an open way, leaving many viewers dissatisfied. Some fans were upset there was no clear closure for the main couple and disliked the ambiguity. Others felt the emotional journey was still fine, even if the ending made them feel a bit lost.

MOON LOVERS: SCARLET HEART RYEO

This show’s ending is often called one of the most emotional in K-drama. Many viewers cried over the fate of the main couple and felt the heartbreak deeply. They were still hoping for a reunion but instead got a tragic, open-ended finish. Fans wished for a happy ending or a modern-day reunion, but the show closed on a sad note.

So, which K-drama left you annoyed with its ending? Please, feel free to also share the ones not mentioned here!
