A new trailer and still shots of the upcoming drama 'Mary Kills People' have been unveiled, foreshadowing a tense confrontation between Lee Bo Young and Lee Min Ki.
On July 21, MBC's upcoming Friday-Saturday drama 'Mary Kills People' (directed by Park Joon Woo, written by Lee Soo Ah) released new stills of Lee Bo Young and Lee Min Ki, heightening anticipation for its premiere.
Premiering on August 1 at 10 PM KST, 'Mary Kills People' is a suspense drama that tells the story of a doctor who helps terminally ill patients with assisted death, and a detective who pursues her. Lee Bo Young plays Woo So Jung, an emergency physician who assists patients choosing to take their own life, while Lee Min Ki plays Jo Hyun Woo, a terminal brain tumor patient.

In the released photos, So Jung and Hyun Woo exchange chilling gazes. So Jung, trying to hide her shock, suppresses her trembling eyes and subtle emotional turmoil, while Hyun Woo stares back with suspicious, piercing eyes. Their complex expressions—mixed with doubt and attraction—create a tense face-off, raising curiosity about the conflict between a doctor who helps people die and a patient who chooses death.
The production team commented, “This scene captures Lee Bo Young and Lee Min Ki expressing completely different perspectives and emotions through just their eyes. Their powerful performances will be the driving force of Mary Kills People.”
The drama also boasts a stellar cast including Lee Min Ki, Kang Ki Young, Baek Hyun Jin, Kwon Hae Hyo, and Kim Tae Woo, joining 2013 SBS Drama Awards winner Lee Bo Young. It is directed by Park Joon Woo ('Taxi Driver,' 'Crash') and written by Lee Soo Ah ('Venus Talk,' 'Inseparable Bros,' 'Unemployed Romance'). The series is based on the Canadian drama of the same name.

In the teaser, So Jung and Hyun Woo face each other as So Jung tearfully says, “I’ll let you go. To where you want to be,” while Hyun Woo returns a sorrowful gaze. This is followed by a chilling conversation: “You give patients benfotiamine and help them die?” as Choi Kang Yoon (played by Lee Sang Yoon) drinks champagne and So Jung is seen holding a patient chart. The ominous phrase “Prescribing death to patients” flashes across the screen, intensifying the suspense.
The teaser ends with Hyun Woo warning, “Stop what you're doing right now,” and then declaring, “I’ll catch you no matter what,” to which So Jung coldly replies, “You’ll never catch me. I’m not guilty.”
Since its announcement, the drama has become one of the most anticipated releases. Viewers have reacted enthusiastically to the teaser, leaving comments like “This looks really good,” “Lee Bo Young never disappoints in thrillers,” “What a lineup,” and “I’m definitely watching this broadcast.”
