Actor Gong Yoo and footballer Son Heung Min warmed hearts online after sharing a sweet moment celebrating Son’s first major championship title.
On June 19, Gong Yoo posted a series of photos on his social media with the caption, “Respect!!” The photos show him sitting beside Son Heung Min, wearing the Europa League winner’s medal that Son recently earned. Despite being dressed casually in a T-shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap, Gong Yoo carried the medal with pride, striking relaxed yet charismatic poses.
Son Heung Min, sporting a laid-back outfit of shorts and a T-shirt, leaned on Gong Yoo with a bright smile. The bond between the two felt like that of brothers—playful, affectionate, and full of mutual admiration.
A signed jersey from Son added another layer of emotion. The message read: “Brother, even though you couldn’t be at the stadium, your support helped me achieve this incredible win. I’m truly grateful. I’ll never forget your sincere advice and kindness. No matter what happens, I’ll always be on your side. Love you! – GGong.”
Gong Yoo proudly displayed the jersey along with the medal. Around the same time, Son also posted the same photos with the caption “GGong Respect♥,” confirming the closeness of their friendship.
Their bond isn’t new—Gong Yoo previously posted a photo holding Son’s golden boot, and the two have been spotted celebrating birthdays together. Son even used the affectionate nickname “GGong” when speaking about Gong Yoo on 'Salon Drip 2,' a YouTube variety show hosted by Jang Do Yeon.
Currently, Gong Yoo is filming 'Show Business,' a new Netflix series written by Noh Hee Kyung and starring Song Hye Kyo. Son Heung Min is taking a short break after competing in the third round of qualifiers for the '2026 FIFA World Cup.'
