On April 4th, SM Entertainment officially announced that Wendy and Yeri will be parting ways with the company following the expiration of their exclusive contracts.
In a statement, SM shared, “We would like to inform you that our contracts with Wendy and Yeri have ended. We sincerely support their new beginnings.” The company added that while the two artists are leaving the agency, they will continue to participate in Red Velvet’s group activities under SM.
The agency stated, “We ask for your continued interest in Red Velvet’s journey, which will keep unfolding. We are deeply grateful for the love you’ve shown Wendy and Yeri and hope you will warmly support them in their next chapters.”
Wendy and Yeri debuted as members of Red Velvet in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Beyond group promotions, both have been active in various fields—Wendy as a solo vocalist and radio host, and Yeri as a songwriter, actress, and MC.
Previously, members Seulgi, Irene, and Joy renewed their contracts with SM, while news of Wendy and Yeri’s contract status had remained unclear—fueling speculation among fans in recent months.
As Wendy and Yeri embark on new individual paths, many fans are celebrating their contributions while expressing support for both their solo careers and continued activities with Red Velvet.
