Lapillus is a girl group under MLD Entertainment that debuted in June 2022 with their single “Hit Ya.” The group quickly garnered attention, especially for member Chanty, who made headlines as the first Filipino in a K-pop girl group. Additionally, Lapillus is known for having one of the youngest idols in a K-pop girl group.
Their debut was well received, surpassing 12 million views on YouTube. Building on this success, the group made a comeback with their mini-album “Girl’s Round Pt.1” on September 22, 2022.
However, Lapillus's momentum was short-lived. On June 21, 2023, they released their last comeback as a group titled “Who’s Next”, which faced mixed reactions from netizens:
“I’m disappointed with this comeback; the company really doesn’t know how to promote the girls at all.”
“Why don’t they try new concepts?”
“If only they were under a bigger entertainment company.”
Complicating matters further, member Chanty went on hiatus due to health concerns, forcing the group to perform as a five-member act. This sparked anger and concern among fans, who began to speculate about what might be happening behind the scenes.
In the months that followed, fans grew increasingly worried about Lapillus’s future. MLD Entertainment suddenly abandoned their trademark for the group, and Lapillus has been notably silent on social media. This has only fueled speculation, especially given MLD’s history of mismanaging their senior group, Momoland. It has now been 470 days since Lapillus's last comeback, and many suspect that a return might not be in the cards, as Chanty is no longer in Korea and has a busy schedule elsewhere.
