It was recently revealed that a controversy about NewJeans filming without prior permission was false.
On April 1, ADOR released an official statement denying the rumor that NewJeans had filmed their upcoming music video in Taiwan without permission and denied that the staff members had abused their powers on bypassers.
ADOR stated, "We received official filming permits from Taiwan's local authorities and police, and conducted the shoot within the permitted areas. Although our staff at the scene held signs asking people not to take photos, some still took pictures within the restricted filming area. In these cases, we politely requested the deletion of the photos, and everyone cooperated. There were no instances of shouting or rudeness from our staff at the filming site."
Earlier, foreign media outlet ETtoday released photos from the NewJeans' music video filming site, and reported that the group proceeded with the filming on the streets without permission. The media outlet also claimed that staff members checked the mobile phones of all the bypassing citizens on that day.
This report was based on a post from an anonymous Taiwan online community user. The user claimed, "I happened to pass by the NewJeans music video shoot location. I saw three large cars parked on the road and tried to see who was inside. A staff member shouted at the people there. Even though I wasn't holding a mobile phone they told me to move aside." The user also added, "I asked the staff, 'Did you get permission to occupy the road?' The staff replied, 'We did not get permission'," alleging that NewJeans had proceeded with the shoot without permission. Another post stated, "(The staff) checked the mobile phone of a middle-aged woman passing by the filming location."
However, these posts were found to be false allegations. ADOR announced that they are continuously taking legal action against malicious comments, slander, and defamation since January.
Meanwhile, NewJeans is set to make a comeback on May 24 with a brand new single album 'How Sweet.'
Who would be so dumb to reply “We did not get the permission” at such situation?
Most would just ignore the question or simply said “Of course we got the permission” even though they might or might not have the permission.
