Outer walls of Korean national cultural heritage site Gyeongbokgung Palace vandalized

AKP STAFF

In the early hours of December 16 KST, police received reports that the outer walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace had been vandalized.

An unidentified vandal had spray painted what appears to be the address of a "free movie" website on the outer walls of the palace's western gate, as well as on the outer walls outside the National Palace Museum of Korea.

While police are investigating the case to identify the culprit, the Cultural Heritage Administration will soon begin restoration work to eliminate the spray paint.

Currently, the vandalized portions of the walls have been covered. Many netizens are calling for strict punishment for the culprit once the vandal is apprehended.
