Giant panda Fubao to return to China in March of 2024

AKP STAFF

It's been decided that the beloved Giant Panda Fubao, the first ever panda cub born in South Korea, will be returned to China in March of 2024.

Fubao, fondly nicknamed "Princess Fu" by her fans, was born on July 20, 2020 as the daughter of Lebao and Aibao. Despite the difficulties of panda breeding, the panda couple was able to conceive Fubao successfully in July of 2020, and just this past July, Aibao also gave birth to twins Luibao and Huibao.

As the first baby panda of South Korea's Everland Resort, Fubao gained massive popularity for her cute antics, as well as for her bond with zookeeper Kang Cheol Won, also known as "Grandpa Kang" or "Kang Bao".

But soon, Grandpa Kang and Princess Fu will have to bid each other farewell, as Fubao must return to China to find a mate once she turns 4-years old.

Recently, K-media outlet reports have confirmed that Fubao's return has been scheduled for some time in March of 2024.

Regarding his upcoming farewell with Fubao, Grandpa Kang said, "It's Fubao's life. In her life as a panda, returning [to China] is such a natural step. She needs to meet her match and become a mother herself. But I hope that she will not forget how much she was loved by everyone. I hope that she will cherish those memories in her heart and always live a happy life as a panda."

But China Central Television (CCTV) has assured that it will continue to share footage of Fubao's day-to-day activities with Everland Resort, so that fans in Korea can watch over the princess even from far away.

It's crazy to me that China has a monopoly over Pandas.

It was born in Korea so it's not returning to China. It's being moved to China so it can breed there
