On December 5, Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, went live on Weverse to connect with fans less than a week before his scheduled mandatory military enlistment. He was joined by fellow members RM, Jimin, and Jungkook, who will also be enlisting next week.
Taehyung debuted the shortest haircut he'd had in his career, making him look years younger. He explained that he hadn’t shaved it completely because he still had some scheduled events to attend.
Taehyung addressed the news of his joining the SDT (Special Duty Team), a specialized task force within the Army's Capital Defense Command. His decision to apply to this tough unit has attracted much attention.
Fans have voiced concerns about his safety, given the SDT's specialization in anti-terrorism and urban warfare. Members undergo comprehensive training covering combat techniques, anti-terrorism tactics, explosives handling, sniper training, and rappelling.
Taehyung assured fans that he knows how to take care of himself and has his own reasons for joining. He is also prepared to confront his fear of heights and participate in rappelling.
Taehyung also expressed his excitement about enlisting. He aims to bulk up, reaching a weight of 85kg, and enhance his stamina in preparation for BTS's highly anticipated concert tour following their group comeback in 2025.
He issued a challenge to the other members for a 'best body' competition upon their return after completing their enlistment.
He concluded the live session with a heartfelt thank-you message to fans, expressing gratitude for their support and the beautiful memories created during the release of his debut EP, 'Layover,' last September.
After concluding the group live, Taehyung immediately started a personal live broadcast. He played songs and chatted with fans, providing a closer look at his new hairstyle, described by his hairstylist as a 'Pixie cut with asymmetric bangs.'
