South Korea's first major concert arena sparks online buzz ahead of November opening

AKP STAFF

Details revealing South Korea's upcoming first large-scale arena have sparked much discussion online.

Netizens have particularly reacted to the construction images from April and the location data for the arena, set to inaugurate in November of this year. This stadium which is expected to be a staple concert venue for major K-Pop acts. Traditionally, arenas of this magnitude have been utilized as concert venues for pioneer K-Pop groups that have embarked on 'arena tours' predominantly in Japan.

According to the netizens, the currently under-development arena will be situated within the Inspire Entertainment Resort in Incheon and has a seating capacity of 15,000. Its strategic location next to Terminal 2 of the Incheon International Airport makes it a highly convenient venue for international fans attending concerts.

While there are other concert halls also being constructed concurrently, this newly sprung building is likely to be the earliest one in the nation to play host to artists. Moreover, since the venue is a part of a larger integrated resort, it provides fans with access to a five-star hotel with 1,275 rooms, a 9,500-square-meter water park and sprawling spaces allocated to shopping and dining.

Reactions from K-netizens include:

"It's kind of remote for a lot of people but great for foreign fans"
"International fans must be thrilled"
"Looks great and really convenient for the international fans"
"There will be hotels nearby because it's a resort and it's really useful if you're travelling for the concert"
"The one that's being built by CJ is also part of a hotel so it's convenient for fans flying in"
"I like how the location makes it easy for terminal shuttle buses and subways to arrive"
"I guess for domestic fans we can also use bus rides to get there"
"Please provide buses lol"
"I hope my group performs there"
"I wonder which group will be the first one to perform there..."
"It's the same for non-Seoulites because even to get to venues in Seoul it's far"
"I can directly go there from Busan hehe"
"I think it's smaller than expected, though...?"
"Airport buses, yay"

"I hope the parking lot is big"
"I don't care.. please just make a lot of restrooms and entrances"

All of that bling for only 15000?? Kinda small IMO.

Maybe it would be good for fan meetings and up and coming idols to host their events
