Song Hye Kyo participated in the ice bucket challenge after being named by her former co-star Lee Do Hyun.

On July 14, Song Hye Kyo took to her Instagram story, sharing a photo along with a heartfelt message. She began by writing, "Hello, this is Song Hye Kyo. I was nominated by actor Lee Do Hyun and recently took part of the 2023 Ice Bucket Donation Challenge."

In her message, she emphasized the need for widespread support and interest in establishing Korea's first Lou Gehrig convalescent hospital, saying, "We need the affectionate interest and support of many people for the establishment of Korea's first Lou Gehrig Hospital. I will also take part and give my support so that each individual's precious heart can gather together to achieve meaningful work, and so that this warmth can continue."

Additionally, Song Hye Kyo conveyed her warm sentiments, expressing her wish for happiness and good health for all Lou Gehrig patients and their families in the future.

Wrapping up her message, she passed on the torch to the next participants, mentioning actress Han So Hee, model Shin Hyun Ji, and actor Kim Min Seok, as the individuals who will carry the Ice Bucket Challenge forward. The accompanying photo featured a donation certificate worth 10 million KRW (~7,878.17 USD) made to theSeungil Hope Foundation in the name of Song Hye Kyo.

The Ice Bucket Challenge serves as a relay donation campaign aimed at aiding Lou Gehrig's disease patients. When nominated, participants either pour ice water over themselves or make a donation, followed by nominating three more individuals to continue the challenge within 24 hours. Several notable figures, including Sean from the group Jinusean, IU, Park Bo Gum, Mimi from Oh My Girl, Lee Joo Young, and Lee Young Ji, have already participated in the challenge, showcasing its positive impact.
