GFRIEND's Sowon amazes fans with her soulful voice by releasing her first vocal cover

On May 1st, GFRIEND's Sowon announced by showing a short teaser on her Instagram account that she would be making a cover of "Pretend" by Suzy, expected to drop on May 3rd.

The clip took fans by surprise; it would be the first time for the member to release a vocal cover individually, making BUDDY look forward to it with excitement.

On May 3rd, the cover was finally released, revealing Sowon's soulful voice and astonishing visuals. BUDDY immediately noticed the member's vocal skills improvement and how many emotions were being conveyed throughout the song.


 Upon its release, the hashtag #SowonPretendCover took a spot between Twitter's worldwide trends and even topped the trends in multiple countries such as the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Speaking as a voracious GFriend fan, I think it was pretty nice of Source to finally let her do something like this. It's clear Sowon has a *very* limited vocal range and is definitely more a dancer and visual than a singer, but this song fit her thin range well.
